One of China's most celebrated stage and television actresses. Trained as a theatre actress, with great success on the stage, Song’s skit debut, A Date with Slug, seen in the 1989 CCTV New Year's Gala, brought her immediate celebrity status. Following this, she costarred first with Huang Hong, then with her most successful partner, Zhao Benshan, in many annual Gala show skits, the Gala being the most watched television show in the world, and for many Chinese people the most anticipated television show of the year. Some of her career highlights have included Anti-Family Plan Guerilla, and Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. Her most famous role in a television series was in I Love My Family. In recent years, she has also starred in the notable sitcom, Home with Kids.
